FutureNOW - In and Of A Place: Professional Development Program 2025
FutureNOW is Sunshine Coast Council’s investigation into the intersection of art x new technologies. It looks at how it drives creative sector development and informs (or transforms) the audience experience.
Get Involved.
FutureNOW is calling for proposals from contemporary artists and technologists curious to explore what that future looks like. This opportunity is open to Sunshine Coast-based individual artists, or collectives, with a contemporary arts or creative technologists practice with a curiosity for playing with emergent technologies.
This creative development opportunity provides early career artists and creative technologists a chance to play together in exploring work created in response to and/or specifically for a place.
Being a part of FutureNOW: Professional Development Program 2025
- A $2,000 artists/technologist stipend.
- Three months of co-working facilities at 2ND Space.
- In person and online engagements; workshops, dialogues (etc).
- Networking with participants of the FutureNOW cohort.

You will need to provide us with a (short) response to the question:
- How art could inform you creative technology practise or technology your arts practise.
- Tell us about your practise and,
- Why you want to be involved.
It doesn’t need to be an essay, it’s our way of getting to know you and why you want to play. Your responses will be considered against the below criteria and in reflection of your personal practise as evidenced in the support materials.
To be transparent, we’re looking to engage with creatives who:
- Embrace, critique, or investigate the creative opportunity between art x technology.
- Promote and elevate diverse voices.
- Generate immersive and experimental environments.
You will need to be available to engage with the program on outlined dates in 2025:

Final Intensive Weekend - 14 & 15 June 2025
FutureNOW Background:
FutureNOW investigates current and future intersections of art x new technologies, that are a key driver of creative sector development, informing and transforming the audience experience.
FutureNOW harnesses the potential of emergent technologies in the arts and creative sector on the Sunshine Coast. It explores new modes of arts practice, engagement, and presentation in a regional context through an iterative and evolving program of research, residencies, critical conversations, skills, and industry development opportunities.
FutureNOW builds the capacity of the local sector, creating new networks across QLD and Australia, situating Sunshine Coast as connected and ‘competitive’ in the emergent creative space. It delivers public programming to nurture community interest and build audiences engagement, creating unique presentation opportunities for new works both in the region and beyond.
Proposals will be assessed against the following criteria, noting that your project doesn’t need to reflect all these criteria.
