Sunshine Coast Council is offering Land for Wildlife participants across the region assistance in restoring native vegetation and habitat on their properties.
This year’s incentives aim to assist landholders in habitat restoration on their properties. They are:
- Native plant seedlings for revegetation
- Wildlife nest box installation
- Weed control introductory training
Land for Wildlife members may apply for ONE type of incentive each year. Properties with multiple allotments and/or multiple owners but under one LFW registration can only apply for ONE incentive each year.
Before completing this application form, applicants are encouraged to review the program information on Council's website.
Wildlife Box Installation Application
Applicants can apply for three (3) boxes per year and up to six (6) in total since 2018.
Wildlife nest box installation provides habitat enhancement for properties lacking mature trees with a range of natural hollows. Boxes include small parrot, possum, glider, microbat, pardalote or owlet nightjar boxes. Properties will need to have a minimum of three trees that are at least 30cm wide to install three next boxes.
Wildlife boxes will be installed by council’s preferred contractor. If your project is successful you will be notified by email and then contacted by the contractor to arrange a suitable time to install the nest boxes. Your name and contact details will be provided to the contractor. Nest boxes will be installed in the 2025/26 financial year.
Please note priority will be given to landholders that have not received nest boxes previously.
